Compensation (Pay): $70,185.53 to $101,769.01/yearly, based on experience.

    https ://www.peakvista.org/resources/benefits-summary Job Summary: The Medical Records Manager manages the Medical Records department in accordance with organizational standards and goals. Manages the department’s budget to include preparation, implementation, and monitoring. Prepares budget variances as required. Conducts Unit Meetings in accordance with the company’s unit meeting schedule and as needed to meet department goals. Utilizes good judgment, instructions and pre-established procedures to perform the functions of the job. Consults with and evaluates user requests to identify new or modified program needs. Is aware of and enforces standards associated with HIPAA privacy and security rules. Has knowledge of and stays current with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Medical Records field and implements processes and workflows supporting current standards relating to Health Information Management.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include managing the daily functions of the medical records department to include processing release of information requests and scanning and filing of patient records into the company’s electronic records system for patient documents in accordance with federal and state regulations/laws.

  • Resolves problems that arise with the release of confidential medial information and patient concerns regarding their medical records.

  • Ensures regulatory compliance by ensuring standards are met and medical records policies and procedures are kept current, as well as the workflows to implement those policies and procedures.

  • Works with the company’s patient record storage company to account for all patient records stored offsite and ensures the storage and destruction of those patients charts in accordance with federal and state regulations/laws.

  • Responsible for the timely retrieval of patient records and copying of information as allowed by federal and state regulations for the release of patient’s records.

  • Tracks requests and collects fees as required and allowed by federal and state regulations.

  • Manages court and subpoena requests as needed to support company providers and operations.

  • Other duties may include but shall not be limited to; timecards and feedback to individuals for reviews, or performance improvement on an as needed basis.

  • Plans and establishes work/project schedules; addresses and resolves worker problems; trains and evaluates personnel.

  • Prepares reports for management; coordinates operations with other groups within the organization or company; and develops methods and procedures to increase productivity and improve product quality.

    Supervision Exercised: Medical Records Supervisor, Release of Information Tech(s), Medical Records Tech(s) and Volunteers assigned to the Medical Records Department

    Demonstrates strong leadership skills, knowledge and abilities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensures that the appropriate personnel meet all job required competencies.

    Education/Experience:

    Education: High school diploma or equivalent education. Associates in job related field required, Bachelors preferred.

    Work Experience: 5-7 years of relevant experience required, including 3 years as a supervisor/manager of a Medical Record Department required. Previous ambulatory care experience desired. Previous community or public health experience is a plus.

    Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of internet, Microsoft Office, other relevant software programs. Data visualization and analytical skills preferred. Familiarity with SmartSheet software preferred.

    Certificates and Licenses: Health Information Management (HIM) Certification – RHIT required, and RHIA preferred.
