Salary/Pay Range : $65,000 - $70,000. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary

The College of Education (COE) at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) (https://apptrkr.com/get_redirect.php?id=5914768&targetURL=https://www.uccs.edu/experience/about-uccs) invites applications for an in-person, non-tenure track, full-time clinical assistant professor to be the clinical field placement coordinator (1/2 time) and teach in the undergraduate Bachelor of Arts in Human services, and the master's CACREP-accredited Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling programs (1/2 time). The position will be a 9-month position with a 2/2 teaching load, and optional summer teaching. We are seeking applicants who have a strong interest in inclusive, innovative, and collaborative approaches to counseling, counselor education and behavioral health. The position will include maintaining an advising caseload of graduate and undergraduate learners; supervising practicum and internship experiences; and providing service to support the department, college, and university (when relevant).

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include teaching and field placement coordinator responsibilities, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate all graduate and undergraduate field placements requiring clinical experiences;

  • Work with faculty in building a cohesive consolidated quality assurance system for all counselor preparation and behavioral health pathways. Track program completers, standardize assessment instruments, timelines and processes across the programs, and provide an analysis of findings to stakeholders such as department chairs, deans, campus, Office of Institutional Research, and advisory boards;

  • Maintain a database for tracking placements, including fieldwork sites, site supervisors and clinical/P-12 school personnel; ensure diverse experiences, resolve administrative or placement issues with learners and faculty, ensure that candidates meet number of required hours and complete other required aspects of clinical placements;

  • Maintain regular contact with supervisors at fieldwork sites (schools and agencies). Ensure and document that site supervisors meet program specific qualifications for their roles, negotiate new field or service-learning sites, coordinate volunteer and pre-field placement opportunities, and sustain and develop new partnerships for professional development outreach;

  • Provide orientation, evaluation, and professional development for new and returning site supervisors;

  • Work with faculty and staff to ensure relevancy and accuracy in program handbooks on an annual basis, assist with revisions

  • Demonstrated experience in field supervision in professional role (beyond teaching);

  • Familiarity with leadership, leadership development, and character development topics;

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with others, such as co-teaching and/or team-teaching experiences, shared roles in committee or professional organizations, etc.;

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to a culture of inclusion and belonging;

  • Accreditation experience;

  • Strong organizational skills;

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;

  • Experience using technology to enhance educational accessibility for learners pursuing counseling and human services preparation;

  • Demonstrated commitment to campus and local community service.

Tentative Search Timeline

Qualifications

  • Earned master's degree in counseling, preferably from a CACREP-Accredited Institution is required

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and/or Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in Colorado, independent licensure in another state, and/or are license-eligible in Colorado is required

  • Experience in Counseling and/or Counselor Education and the ability to teach foundational concepts of counseling and human services is required

  • The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of databases, assessment, and curriculum design / alignment

  • The ideal candidate will possess a doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program
