Job Title: Machine Technician

Job Description

Provide support, participate proactively, and demonstrate leadership on Safety and Quality in the area. Comply with Safety legal requirements, standards (External/internal), and others applicable to the area. Responsible for keeping the machines and working area clean and in good condition, before, during, and after the shift. Responsible for the Operation, Change Over, and fine adjustments of the production Semiautomatic Line, specifically the Box Former and/or Box Closer or Case Packer following SOP (Standard Operating Procedures). Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner. Follow the Quality standards to get a high-quality product coming out from Box Former and/or Box Closer, Case Packer. Contribute to the constant flow of the line avoiding unexpected downtimes and working with maintenance, engineering, and other support areas as necessary. Accomplish the standard hourly results of production. Support line operation activities (Autonomous Maintenance (AM), 5S, Quality Checks, Line Release Audit, etc.). Propose improvements in production processes regarding safety, quality, and operations. Collaborate to keep excellent communication with peers following company values. Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance, and able to work in a 2-2-3 pattern and overtime when requested.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and demonstrate leadership on Safety and Quality.

  • Comply with Safety legal requirements and standards.

  • Keep machines and working area clean and in good condition.

  • Operate, change over, and adjust the production Semiautomatic Line.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner.

  • Follow Quality standards for high-quality product output.

  • Maintain constant flow of the line, avoiding downtime.

  • Achieve standard hourly production results.

  • Support line operation activities such as Autonomous Maintenance, 5S, Quality Checks, and Line Release Audit.

  • Propose improvements in production processes.

  • Maintain excellent communication with peers.

  • Ensure regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.

Essential Skills

  • 2-5 years of experience in machine operation, ideally in box manufacturing or related fields.

  • Experience with production equipment, quality inspection, and standards.

  • Skills in minor machine maintenance and troubleshooting.

  • Knowledge of quality control, assurance, and checks.

  • Experience with inventory control, loading, and heavy lifting.

  • Computer skills and ability to use RF scanning.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Vocational degree or technical certification preferred.

  • 1-2 years of experience as a machine operator, similar to box former/box closer and Case packer machines.

  • Experience with high-speed production lines and cardboard processing machinery.

  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Strong Math skills: ability to read a tape measure, understand fractions and decimals.

  • Analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with computers in a manufacturing setting (EasyHMI, electronic settings).

  • Experience with minor mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance.

  • Ability to lift/pull/push 50 lbs. up to 50% of the shift.

  • Ability to stand/walk/bend/twist for prolonged periods up to 12 hours/day.

Work Environment

Very clean, state-of-the-art facility housing the packaging operation, warehouse, and training center. The facility will include more equipment and square footage, with hundreds of pieces of equipment for Injection molding. All machines are technical in nature, requiring candidates with experience in PLC controlled equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Colonial Heights, Virginia.

The pay range for this position is $21.74 - $21.74
