Job Description

The Web Design Specialist II is the creative force behind the TEEX online presence, with responsibilities spanning website design, page layout, curating content, and performance monitoring. This position utilizes end-user data to ensure ease of usability of use and collaborates across internal teams to ensure content aligns with our business goals. Oversees website design and work with web developers to implement functionality. Leveraging reporting tools, monitors performance metrics and user feedback to drive improvements, while also championing web design standards agency-wide.

This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related Communications experience.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in 508 compliance.

  • Experience in SEO.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

  • Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving and/or flying on commercial airlines.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.

  • Skilled in writing and editing content for various internal and external communication channels.

  • Ability to build strong working relationships and contribute to a positive work environment by being helpful, approachable and team oriented.

  • Ability to manage projects, create a project timeline and ensure completion following timeline. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively.

  • Ability to produce content on a quick turnaround.

  • Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Section 508 standards

  • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and Agency safety requirements.

  • As part of TEEX’s mission of providing training, developing practical solutions, and saving lives; this position could be required, if called upon, to deploy within the State of Texas as directed by this position’s Division Director/HQ Department Head.

Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:

Website Content - 55%

  • Develop and actively contribute ideas for content, visuals and stories with a focus on increasing audience engagement.

  • Ensure web content is clear, concise, and adheres to journalistic standards and brand guidelines.

  • Optimize content for SEO to enhance online visibility.

  • Conduct regular content audits for accuracy, relevance and consistency.

  • Verify content is appropriate, factually accurate and grammatically correct.

  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders, providing updates and addressing feedback.

  • Provide website training for stakeholders needing editing permissions.

Website Design - 40%

  • Oversees internal and external website design.

  • Coordinates with web developers to implement new features, designs, and functionalities.

  • Creates and optimizes graphic elements for web use, enhancing overall aesthetic and functionality.

  • Collaborates with marketing teams on visual assets for promotional campaigns.

  • Develops wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs aligning with brand guidelines and user experience principles.

  • Ensures web content is accessible to all users, adhering to web accessibility standards.

  • Ensures responsive and optimized designs for various devices.

  • Stays updated on the latest web trends and technologies.

Reporting and Monitoring - 5%

  • Uses site monitoring tools to track accessibility issues and resolve them.

  • Generates regular reports on KPIs to optimize content and user engagement.

  • Conducts user research and usability testing for iterative improvements.

  • Monitor all public-facing agency websites.

  • Establish and promote web design guidelines and standards agency-wide.
