The Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (http://vetmed.tamu.edu/) (VMBS) is an institution that represents 100 years of growth from a small school of vet erinary medicine in 1916 to its present role as a major vet erinary educational, medical, and research center. Today, we are one of the largest schools of vet erinary medicine in the United States, training nearly 600 Doctor of Vet erinary Medicine students each year. What we want
The Research Technician I performs semi-skilled, technical support research work involving performance of routine tasks. Performs inventory maintenance, protocol development, and ordering lab supplies as needed.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
Two years of related lab experience
*The well-qualified candidate will also have basic skills in molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, and aquatic animal husbandry.
Responsibilities
Research Lab Technical Support: Sets up equipment and supplies for all projects in the lab. Troubleshoots and reports issues with experiments. Follows-up to make sure problems are solved in a timely manner. Assists lab supervisor in preparation for inspections. Sets-up and maintains equipment and updates laboratory computers. Maintains laboratories according to Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) specifications.
Lab Animal Duties: Assists with the procedures during animal work. Assists students and other staff in recording and analyzing physiological data. Reports any animal health concerns to supervisor.
Research Procedure Support: Assists undergraduate and graduate students with their research projects. Assists faculty member in conducting major field experiments and consults in developing procedures.
Inventory Management: Maintains inventory and reports inventory needs of laboratory supplies and small instruments for experiments.
Training: Participates in training and professional development sessions as needed
