Job Information
LYNNTECH INC Product Development Engineer in COLLEGE STATION, Texas
Lynntech is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer with a background in product design and development to help build our capability to transition technologies into the marketplace. Specifically, we are looking for a candidate with first-hand experience in designing, fabricating, and testing mature electromechanical prototypes and new product designs for applications such as medical devices, industrial equipment, and lab equipment.
Lynntechs engineering team has deep bench strength in developing emerging technologies and building breadboards and first-generation prototypes. We also have experience in maturing those prototypes to increase functionality, performance, and reliability, and we are looking to build on that capability with additional product development and manufacturing knowledge and expertise.
The Product Development Engineer will be involved in the following activities:
Support the development of system requirement definitions
Iterate on existing developmental prototype designs to mature toward production-representative prototypes at the component, subassembly, and system level
Design for x, with challenging and competing factors such as reliability, cost, performance, ruggedization, user/patient safety, and usability
Develop and lead execution of test plans to rapidly evaluate multiple design solutions
Analyze test results and modify test plans and/or designs to improve the design outcome
Integrate component, subassembly, and subsystem designs with a team of engineers
Participate in design reviews
Create, update, and maintain design and design decision documentation
Qualifications
Basic qualifications include Master of Engineering or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related engineering disciplines, or bachelors degree with 2 years of relevant work experience, as well as the following demonstrated strengths:
Broad competency in core functional areas such as fluid dynamics, heat transfer, materials, thermodynamics, machine design, controls, and manufacturing and computer aided design
Familiar with standard industry solutions for electromechanical devices
Familiar with a variety of fabrication processes using metallic and non-metallic (e.g., plastic, elastomeric, ceramic, composite) materials and how these processes impact part design constraints
Proven skills in design for manufacturability - component fabrication, joining techniques, design for assembly, tolerance analysis, quality assurance
Experience with design for injection molding and familiarity with mold design
Able to simultaneously consider functionality, performance, and manufacturability while developing designs
Creating, maintaining, and revising parametric 3D CAD data for parts and assemblies
Creating detailed manufacturing drawings
