Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a world-renowned scientific research facility on Long Island's North Shore, is currently seeking a Utility Supervisor to join the Culinary Services department. The responsibilities of the supervisor will consist of participating and supervising cleaning duties throughout the Culinary Services operation, including ware washing, pot washing, floors, equipment and custodial duties. Daily assignments may vary. This position will also provide support to the Purchasing and Receiving Supervisor which involves dishware and equipment inventory, keeping supervisor informed of dishware and equipment purchasing needs, coordinating dishwasher and equipment repairs and advising supervisor of chemical, soap and equipment purchasing needs.

• Oversee custodial staff - Perform service and maintenance on coffee station equipment for fifty-plus stations
• Maintain procedures during the P&R Supervisor's absence -
• Oversee and participate in the daily procedure of washing and sanitizing dishware & pot ware maintenance of floor areas and cleaning and maintaining kitchen stove, and cooking equipment.
• Provides basic maintenance for sanitation equipment
• Other duties as instructed by the Supervisor

EDUCATION: High School diploma, or equivalent

EXPERIENCE: Housekeeping or Custodial experience in an institutional setting is required; some supervisory experience is preferred. OTHER: Nassau County Sanitation Certificate is an asset; clean driver's license required; ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to lift up to 60 pounds, bend, stand, stretch, sit for an extended period. Exposure to cold, heat & noise.
