Ontario Northland Buildings Maintenance Operator in Cochrane, Ontario

SALARY:              $79,898 - $93,990

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:

The Buildings Maintenance Operator is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient facility operations maintaining all buildings under the Corporate Facilities Management portfolio.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilizes the Maintenance ticket system to log all maintenance request details, including regular updating and closing of tickets

  • Scope of work to include, but not limited to, filter maintenance, minor internal construction, ceiling tiles, doors and locks, window repair, moves, grounds keeping, loading dock(s), lighting, sinks, toilets, energy and elevators

  • Verifies and records daily operation of facilities equipment and assists in maintenance of boilers, compressors, HVAC equipment, building mechanicals, elevators, lighting and security

  • Coordinate outside contractors (ex. plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, etc.) on a daily basis to provide services including, but not limited to, janitorial, grounds keeping, snow removal, painting, installing flooring, windows and doors, window washing, carpet cleaning and all other approved projects

  • Assembles, moves, retrieves and stores records, boxes, furniture, stationery and related office supplies and peripherals

  • Maintains cleanliness of work area

  • Work with Health and Safety Committee, fire plan, monitor two-way radios, order and install Health and Safety supplies (first aid, eye wash, stretchers) 

  • Provide other support and assistance to the Corporate Facilities Department as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certificate in Building Environmental Systems (BES) 

  • 1-2 years’ work experience in property maintenance

  • Experience in general contracting  

  • Broad knowledge of carpentry, electrical, mechanical and plumbing 

  • Knowledge of Ontario building codes and permits

  • Must be able to perform basic/light maintenance duties including custodial and painting

  • Experience with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) or Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Flexibility to be on call 24/7
