Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Technician I REV A
Position Summary:
The employee is responsible for becoming certified in present and future approved methods within the NDT department and maintain these certifications throughout the course of employment. Also, capably perform a variety of inspections to procedures and other governances associated with the task assigned.
Key Responsibilities :
Certify to level-2 in both Fluorescent Penetrant (FPI) and Digital Radiography (DR) within 2-years of NDT start date.
3 certification tests are required to achieve this goal. (Level 2 – FPI, Level-1 & 2 – DR)
Level-2 recertification’s must be completed every 5-years.
Understand and comply with all procedures and governances associated with NDT and the task/method assigned.
Operate all required equipment, perform systems checks, and routine maintenance as needed.
Adept at reading prints/process drawings associated with AA TECH product
Develop techniques for future AA TECH product, improve processes which enhance inspection results or help reduce ergonomic concerns.
Examine hundreds of parts daily for weld and braze flaws, incorrect assemblies, forging and casting defects, rework re-evaluations, etc. while striving for a near-perfect quality record.
Required Qualifications :
Must have completed High School Diploma or equivalent
3-years’ experience in digital radiography and fluorescent penetrant testing as a level-2 in each method per NAS410 preferred
Ability to read, write, and understand detailed work instructions, procedures, and drawings.
Computer software literacy required. Capable of creating spreadsheets and Word documents, developing techniques within Excel, data entry in various software suites, and a working familiarity within the Windows OS environment.
Successfully complete eye test
Must meet and maintain all requirements within Q09-02-4001 and NAS-410 for present and future certifications in methods within NDT.
For training purposes, capable of traveling 5% of the time (up to 3 weeks per year).
Key Competencies:
Maintain work areas and equipment in an organized, clean, and foreign object damage (FOD) – free manner.
Capable of performing under pressure. This includes performance audits completed internally and by external agencies (i.e. NADCAP), meeting production requirements without sacrificing inspection quality or other responsibilities and accepting and working within continual industry and departmental changes which impact processes performed.
Work closely with supervision, engineering staff, or other team members to ensure production requirements and schedules are met.

3rd shift: 10:30pm - 6:30am
Any training must be completed on 1st shift (6:30am - 2:30pm).
