Taylor Power Systems R & D Technician - R & D Area 4312/3510/20220 in Clinton, Mississippi

This is a job for an R & D Technician - R & D Area position with the company located in Clinton, MS area.

Responsibilities: Building/installing prototype wiring harnesses, panel wiring, reading prototype schematics, and working with electrical and electronic meters, test equipment, wire crimping presses, load banks, hand tools and other testing solutions to prove prototype design. Building/assembling prototype generator sets, components and enclosures including use of crane, forklift, hand tools and specialty tools. Working from prototype electrical schematics, assembles electronic components to sub-panels, mounts components in enclosures, and installs electrical related equipment. Working from prototype drawings, assembles components, mounts components, and installs mechanical related equipment. Assures initial fit of all electrical components, boxes, and enclosures by drilling, tapping, wiring, and assembling to coordinate final design before start of production units. Assure initial fit of all skids, engines, alternators, radiators, enclosures, and all mounted components by drilling, tapping, adapting, and aligning, then coordinate final design before start of production units. Wires and labels electrical sub-panels and enclosures. installs and labels piping, hoses and other mechanical components as required. Mounts and interconnects components to equipment, per electrical/prototype schematics/drawing or initial hand drawings/instructions. Evaluates components and equipment to verify correct operation, safety, operator use and ease of service. Provides in-house support to production personnel as needed. Fit together parts and subassemblies to build complete generator sets and interconnect with automatic transfer switches, remote annunciators, remote monitoring systems and other required customer equipment. Follow prototype schematics and engineering specifications. Secures assemblies, using correct hardware, torque values, proper tooling or tightening sequences. Plans standardized wire routing including spacing of tie-wraps, wire bending radius, protective wire wrap, exact wire lengths, proper terminal ends, correct crimping procedure and overall work instruction content to be used by production personnel. Plans standardized piping or hose routing including spacing of tie-wraps and hold-down clamps, along with using the same fittings, bend radius and pipe or hose routing and provide overall work instruction content to be used by production personnel. Disassemble wiring/subassemblies or complete components as required after testing and examine parts for evidence of wear, chaffing or other signs of improvement needed in routing or mounting. Determines the best connection methods to fit or solder parts together while working to eliminate spliced or taped connections. Assist and coordinate with Engineering personnel on fabrication, assembly, design, and testing of complete units. Performs tests on electrical assemblies during the R&D process. Works closely with Engineering personnel on schematics, drawings, and electrical component specifications. Works closely with Manufacturing Engineers on development of work instructions. Performs tests on subassemblies, parts, components, fittings, and general supplies during the R&D process. Works closely with Engineering personnel on component specifications. Works closely with Manufacturing Engineers on development of work instructions. Makes safety and safe working practices a priority. Other duties as assigned.
