Description:

Position Purpose

The LPN assumes responsibility/accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment, and other health care team members.

What You Will Do

  • Scribe and fax H&Ps for each day’s procedures.

  • Prepare charts – make sure all information needed is located in the chart.

  • Room patients and do the initial interview. Obtain the health history, vital statistics, weight, and height.

  • Perform as a scribe for licensed independent practitioners, in compliance with hospital policy.

  • Schedule procedures, labs, and x-rays.

  • Give patient any instructions for procedures being done.

  • Return any messages taken from patients.

  • File dictation as needed and make sure dictation has been completed for all.

  • Handle callbacks with pathology, lab and/or x-ray results.

  • Send referring physician information as necessary.

  • Do office call charge tickets.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active registration for Licensed Practical Nurse - Board of Nursing, State of Iowa and Illinois.

  • Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire.

  • Experience preferred.

  • Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Must be cable of problem solving, critical thinking, and assessment of patient conditions.

  • Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills in a Windows environment.

  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

  • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission and vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
