Job Description:

We are looking for a motivated candidate with a demonstrated passion for water resources, attention to detail, and a desire to grow and lead within a strong team. The successful candidate for this position will advance their practical knowledge and experience while solving real-world engineering problems under the supervision and mentoring of senior water resources engineering personnel.

Job Responsibilities:
Apply professional principles, complex numerical models, and innovative solutions to real-world problems as part of a team of engineers and scientists while under the supervision of senior engineering personnel.
Perform and review detailed and complex hydrologic, hydraulic, and water resource engineering analysis using state of the industry and cutting-edge tools. Examples include peak flow analyses for watersheds, dam breach modeling and inundation mapping, and design/evaluation of hydraulic structures.
Author and review water resource related report text documenting the study processes, findings, recommendations, and conclusions.
Develop and review design drawings, calculations, and technical reports for compliance with the current state of the practice.
Assist in the development of engineering proposals.
Perform and/or assist with inspections of dams and hydraulic structures.
Advance Schnabel’s dam engineering practice through sound designs, conference presentations, publishing of technical papers, participation in pertinent technical committees, and research and development of innovative or advanced analysis and software.
Manage, teach, and mentor junior staff, commensurate with experience level.
Collect and review field data and measurements.
Required Skills/Experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related) from an ABET-accredited program with excellent academic achievement in water resource related courses is required.
A Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with an emphasis in Hydraulics, Hydrology, or Water Resources is preferred.
Experience with and active use of engineering software commonly used to evaluate watersheds, dams and hydraulic structures: HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SITES, WinDAM. Experience with 3D CFD or numerical modeling is preferred.
4 - 8 years of professional experience
Professional Engineering license or successful completion of the EIT.
Must possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Candidate should be prepared to provide examples of their technical writing.
A strong work ethic and the desire to perform professionally at a high level.
Effective time management, written communication skills, analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Must possess a positive attitude, be detail oriented, and be self-motivated to grow professionally.
Must possess a willingness and ability to perform field work and travel.
Other Requirements:
Candidates must have a valid driver’s license.
Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, and credit check.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
The compensation range for a Project Engineer is between $73,202 to $110,015. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location.
