Summary:

  • At our Cleveland Service Center site, located in Cleveland, Ohio, we re-manufacture alternators for EVO, HDL and FDL locomotives. The Cleveland Center supplies alternators to locomotive manufacturing sites and repairs points across the globe. The site focuses on safe, efficient processes, while continuously driving out costs. The Winder B is responsible for performing winding alternators across multiple product lines in an effective and efficient manner for the organization. Employees are involved in 5S and lean projects. This role will report directly to the Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform complicated operations involving assembling/ disassembling, test & inspect, within the department.

  • Demonstrated winding ability with a focus on safety awareness and accident prevention.

  • Will need to be certified to Braze (resistance and torch braze).

  • Understanding of electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, maintenance manuals and instructions, parts lists and prints

  • Knowledge and experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and the ability to identify and correct problems.

  • Assists the Working Leader in the development of work scope, material, and tooling requirements.

  • Will need to perform and communicate with the WL and Supervisor, department equipment servicing needs.

  • Support various departments as required.

  • All other duties assigned by supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year in manufacturing environment or equivalent experience.

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work unsupervised.

  • Strategic and creative thinking to analyze issues that may arise and create solutions.

  • Familiarity with brazing, prints and drawings.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

  • Employee is regularly required to stand for 8__ hours at a time, with minimal breaks.

  • Employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds.

  • Employee is regularly required to see and observe small handwriting, labels, and components.

  • Employee is regularly required to operate heavy machinery, including but not limited to fork lifts and cranes.

  • Employee is regularly required to wear steel toes shoes and safety glasses at all times.

  • The Position requires the employee to be on-site during scheduled shift to perform daily duties and responsibilities.

  • Requires daily face-to-face interaction with employees on production line.

Work Environment

  • The employee will normally work in a non-temperature-controlled environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
