Case Western Reserve University Sr Coordinator, Faculty Development & Professionalism in Cleveland, Ohio

POSITION OBJECTIVE 

The Faculty Development and Professionalism Senior Coordinator will lead the coordination and management for faculty development programming for the 8500 faculty spread across five campuses in the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine (SOM). This position is an essential member of the faculty development planning team. Working with a high degree of independence, the Faculty Development Coordinator supports faculty development through management of the operations of multiple year-long, multi-session programs and single training sessions for faculty development. The coordinator will be responsible for the monthly Faculty Tool Kit series (i.e., assisting with determining and delivering content, identifying speakers, marketing, assessment). The Faculty Development and Professionalism Senior Coordinator will provide administrative support to the Vice Dean for Faculty and support the operations of the Professionalism arm of the Office for Faculty, including researching best practices and professionalism resources. These latter two responsibilities require considerable discretion in actions and decision-making in the handling of highly confidential and sensitive information. The position requires the highest level of discretion, independent judgment, and an ability to independently research and provide innovative solutions to improve processes and efficiencies in all job responsibilities. The coordinator will work collaboratively and in a team environment with other staff to support the mission of the Office for Faculty.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1.  Manage the continuing medical education (CME) process for all School of Medicine faculty development curricula sessions (approx. 35 and growing). This entails close communication with all speakers, completion of online requirements, gathering relevant disclosures, identification of learning objectives and gaps, documentation of research in support of curriculum offerings, development of program evaluations based on best practices, and presenting recommendations to the Vice Dean for Faculty and Director of Faculty Development. The successful candidate will develop new curricula based on faculty feedback and assessments. (20%)
  2. Manage the operations of all faculty curricula programs, including market programs, organize the candidate selection process for competitive curricula, manage communications with faculty participants and speakers, secure rooms or zoom links, arrange for catering if needed, manage financials (i.e., invoice participants, pay speakers), distribute materials for each session, develop and analyze outcome measures. Maintain and expand on the Faculty Development website and work with the director to develop a faculty development newsletter. (30%)
  3. Coordinate, manage, and triage schedule for and communication to the Vice Dean for faculty. Exercise judgement in ability to independently address faculty concerns and issues or refer immediately to the Vice Dean for Faculty, identify potential solutions to assist the Vice Dean for Faculty (30%)
  4. Support the operations and mission of the Professionalism arm of the Office for Faculty. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting the Professional Conduct Committee, tracking and ensuring completion of all faculty professionalism cases that are reported in the SOM reporting portal, collating faculty reports to identify recurring themes, identifying best practices at other institutions that can be adopted in the CWRU SOM and helping implement those innovations.   5. Organize and manage faculty development awards for the school. Market and reach out to department chairs, center directors, and hospital partners to solicit nominations, oversee the nomination process, and plan celebratory events. Develop and implement new initiatives to recognize faculty across all five campuses of the SOM (10%)
