Cleveland Clinic is looking to add a Research Supervisor to their dedicated team of caregivers. As a Research Supervisor, you will supervise and coordinate the organization and execution of multiple research projects that may involve multiple sites of a specialized research program. You'll be fully integrated with applicable research management systems and processes and the research team's management.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises daily activities of Veterinary Services personnel to include work assignments and work schedules.

  • Assists with hiring, training, performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.

  • Monitors department and research personnel activities for compliance with SOPs, guidelines, and research protocols.

  • Follows up on concerns to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting institutions.

  • Ensures and supervises the care, comfort, nutrition, clinical support and safety of research animals housed in the BRU.

  • Performs the duties of a veterinary technician as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or Bachelor's degree in animal science, biology or related field preferred.

Certifications:

  • Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT), Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) or Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) is required or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to make quick decisions, identify options and take appropriate action.

  • Ability to understand and follow detailed scientific or medical instructions given by investigators and/or veterinarians.

  • Requires computer literacy, good interpersonal skills to work and communicate with all levels of department and research personnel.

  • All tasks must be performed to fulfill guidelines and regulations according to regulations.

  • Must be flexible and complete the job before leaving work. Animal care is a 7-days per week, 365-days per year job.

Work Experience:

  • Five (5) years of experience in all phases of animal science and technology to include at least two (2) years' experience as a lead animal science technician, supervisor or similar leadership role in an animal facility or veterinary practice.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle increased responsibilities including (but not limited to) managing compliance issues, training of veterinary technicians and/or research personnel, oversight of an area that Veterinary Services supports.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and transport equipment, supplies and/or animals weighing up to 75 pounds using carts with casters.

  • Capable of tolerating a significant amount of standing, bending, and walking.

  • May be required to work with biological, chemical and radiation hazards after proper training.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $22.85

Maximum hourly: $34.85

A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set, and education.
