Cleveland Clinic Registered Respiratory Therapist - Intensive Care and Resuscitation - Weekender Flex in Cleveland, Ohio

This position is eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Intensive Care and Resuscitation RRTs are given a unique opportunity to work in exclusive world-renowned critical care and step-down settings.

Our seven cardiovascular intensive care units comprise 95 beds, making it one of the largest of its kind in the country.

The RRTs in Cleveland Clinic's Heart Center also serve a 24-bed Coronary Intensive Care Unit, a 10-bed Heart Failure Intensive Care Unit, a 13-bed Cardiac Accelerated Recovery Unit, and a 15-bed Short Stay Unit.

Respiratory care is also provided in the Heart Center's 12 Step-Down areas, which total 288 beds. The CVICU supports more than 20,000 patient-days per year.

Additionally, Intensive Care and Resuscitation RRTs care for over 100 lung transplant recipients every year. Our intensivist staff are board-certified critical care physicians who provide all daily clinical management in the CVICUs. Our Weekender Flex Program allows caregivers to work full-time between Friday - Sunday (night shift) every week, working only 36 hours but receiving compensation for 44 hours.

A caregiver in this position works nights, from 7pm - 7:30am every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

A caregiver in this role will have a full-time status and all our benefits will be included.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide assessment, treatment, care and evaluation to patients with respiratory insufficiencies.

  • Direct respiratory caregivers for delivery of care.

  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.

  • Assess patients for the appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop, implement and monitor patient care plans.

  • Monitor, record and communicate patients' conditions.

  • Perform advanced respiratory care modalities, evaluate respiratory practice, administer medications and treatments, and perform blood gas puncture and analysis.

  • Educate patients and families about the illness and provide information about community support groups and other programs.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care.

  • Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) Board Licensure.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA).

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in critical care.

  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) certification.

  • Skills: active listening, collaboration, adaptability, critical thinking, accountability, independent working and receptive to feedback.

Physical Requirements:

  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

  • Normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range.

  • May require sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
