The Sherwin-Williams Company R&D Technician in Cleveland, Ohio
The R&D Technician I for the Brands Commercialization - Maintenance of Business team is responsible for supporting the maintenance of existing products, quality investigations & raw material supply disruptions for interior and exterior architectural products for the GSC Brands Commercialization Lab. Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. Responsibilities Include: Supporting maintenance of business projects Performing lab testing including scale ups, performance testing and heat age stability Support of routine experiments, recording results and learning basic knowledge of equipment/computing tools to capture and record data Communication within the project team regarding project needs and status Developing basic knowledge and understanding of product lines and raw materials Executes and analyzes experiments and provides regular updates Establishes timeline for assignments based on priorities with assistance from their supervisor. Identifies and resolves development hurdles. Writes basic reports, outlines procedures used, and results obtained. Recognizes problems and implements corrective actions to resolve the issue. Analyzes data, begins to draw conclusions, and make recommendations. Proficient in operating moderately complex lab instruments. Other duties as assigned BASIC QUALIFICATION: * Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status). FORMAL EDUCATION: Required: * Must have a High School Diploma KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Required: * Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills * Excellent organization and planning skills * Proven problem-solving / decision-making ability Preferred: * Previous Commercialization and/or paint making experience * Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances Upon completion of construction, the individual selected for this role will primarily work at the new Sherwin-Williams Global Technology Center in Brecksville, Ohio. Construction is expected to be complete in 2025. Until then, the role will be based at Breen Technology Center, located at 601 Canal Road, Cleveland, OH 44113.
