The Interior Commercialization New Product Development Group is seeking an R&D Chemist II to support the product development for Interior Architectural products designed for the Paint Stores Group. This position is accountable for leading and/or contributing to the development, reformulation and testing of architectural paint products. Responsibilities include: Appropriate selection of raw materials, paint making and testing, data analysis and application of paint formulation/knowledge to product specifications and performance requirements as defined by the appropriate Marketing team Accurate documentation and presentation of lab results and technical information Frequent and direct interaction with Marketing, Manufacturing, and various support groups to ensure the successful commercialization of products Develop more in depth technical and business knowledge regarding paint products. Plan, schedule, execute work, analyze results and make recommendations based on those results. Host meetings. Summarize, present, and report project findings/conclusions to stakeholders and provide recommendations for actions path forward. Identify potential Continuous Improvement opportunities and drive necessary actions for implementation. Other responsibilities, such as mentoring will be determined based on the experience of the selected individual Other Duties as Assigned FORMAL EDUCATION: Required: * Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics ("STEM") field * Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status). Preferred: * Bachelor's in Chemistry KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Required: * Minimum of 3 year of architectural paint formulation or coatings * Data analysis and interpretation skills * Strong Communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills * Proven Problem-solving and decision-making abilities * Math and statistics skills * Ability to interact effectively with various levels of technical experience Preferred: * Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances * High level of initiative and leadership ability * Project leadership/management experience * Design for Six Sigma Green Belt trained or certified TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Required: * Experience in scale-up procedures for manufacturability * Paint industry knowledge and awareness Preferred: * Design for Six Sigma Green Belt trained or certified TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 10% Upon completion of construction, the individual selected for this role will primarily work at the new Sherwin-Williams Global Technology Center in Brecksville, Ohio. Construction is expected to be complete in Q4 2024. Until then, the role will be based at Breen Technology Center, located at 601 Canal Road, Cleveland, OH 44113.
