Cleveland Clinic Clinical Pharmacy Specialist--Lymphoma/Myeloma in Cleveland, Ohio

As a Pharmacy Clinical Specialist, you will be responsible for rounding with inpatient lymphoma/myeloma services and rotating into the outpatient lymphoma/multiple myeloma settings. Your service coverage may also include patients with solid tumors. Pharmacy Clinical Specialists are also responsible for clinical pharmacy services, education and counseling, nursing/physician/pharmacy in-services, protocol and pathway development, research, precepting and Beacon review.

A caregiver in this position works the day shift from 8:00AM - 5:00PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Coordinate and provide pharmaceutical care for patients.

  • Participate in patient care rounds.

  • Perform pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and provision of pharmaceutical care for patients.

  • Provide general and patient-specific drug information.

  • Educate clinical pharmacists, technicians, pharmacy students, post-graduate trainees, allied health professionals, nurses and physicians in pharmacotherapy.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.

  • If hired for a specialty area where specialty residency training is available, then specialty residency is required.

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) OR eligible for reciprocation in the current state within 90 days of hire.

  • Completion of a post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or fellowship OR completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY-1) and two years of experience as a clinical specialist or an equivalent role providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmaceutical monitoring OR four years of experience as a clinical specialist or an equivalent role providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring.

  • For individuals required to administer immunizations: current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days of hire.

  • For individuals required to respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest events: current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or certification obtained within 1 year of hire.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Physical Requirements :

  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

  • Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.

  • Must have normal or corrected vision.

  • Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person
