We are currently seeking a Transportation Intern in our Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati, or Cleveland Ohio offices for the Spring semester (January-May). This internship will be a full-time position working 40 hours a week. The Transportation Intern will work alongside the Woolpert Transportation teams on a variety of design elements to support the roadway, bridge, traffic, and planning aspects of projects. These could be designs for DOT, municipalities, the federal government, or the private sector. Typical projects range from new bridges or bridge rehabilitations, new roadways, retaining walls, trails, transportation planning or traffic studies to support development. Interns will be assigned to an office rather than a single Team, allowing them to gain experience across the Transportation Disciplines. Returning interns may select a concentration after discussion with their supervisor. All these projects directly impact the communities where we live and work. Responsibilities Work as part of the industry leading Transportation team. Gain real-world experience working on actual projects alongside Licensed Engineers that are experts in their fields. Assist on bridge tasks; structural calculations, bridge design, retaining wall design, plan production and cost estimation. Assist on roadway tasks; conceptual layouts, roadway design, grading, utility design, plan production and cost estimation. Assist on traffic tasks; data collection, analysis, reporting, signal design, transportation planning, plan production and cost estimation. Work as a member of a team that coordinates with other internal teams and external subconsultants and clients. Perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence. Work across multiple disciplines to gain a variety of knowledge and experience. Qualifications Don't have all of these? That's ok, we know you're coming to learn. Be enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university, preferably with at least sophomore status Pursuing a Civil Engineering degree Ability to sit in one of the listed offices (Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton) at least 2-3 days per week. Have a general interest in transportation design Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to function well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment Exceptional multitasking and time management skills Ability to work independently as Woolpert utilizes a hybrid work environment meaning part time in the office and part time from home (to be coordinated with supervisor) Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D and/or Microstation would be preferred, but not required Presenting Opportunities and Challenges at Every Turn...
