Raymond James Financial, Inc. Lead Kafka Engineer (Confluent Data Streaming) in Clearwater, Florida

Description

This position will follow our hybrid work model, we expect the selected candidate to be in the office 8 days per month at the St. Petersburg, FL Corporate Office or Denver, CO location.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented Confluent Kafka Developer to join the Raymond James Enterprise Data & Analytics team, with expertise in Terraform and AWS. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and managing our data streaming infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration and high performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Confluent Kafka.

  • Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform to automate deployment and management of Kafka clusters on AWS.

  • Optimize Kafka clusters for performance, reliability, and scalability.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot Kafka clusters and data pipelines to ensure high availability.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Kafka with various applications and systems.

  • Stay updated with the latest developments in Kafka, Terraform, and AWS technologies, and apply this knowledge to improve our infrastructure.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven experience working with Confluent Kafka and Apache Kafka.

  • Strong understanding of Kafka architecture, components, and tuning.

  • Proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) on AWS.

  • Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and Lambda.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Very familiar with SRE concepts which includes evaluating and implementing monitoring and observability tools like Splunk, Data Dog, CloudWatch and other job, log or dashboard concepts for customer support and application health checks.

Education/Previous Experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business or related degree and five (5) years of relevant experience or a combination of education, training and experience approved by HR.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Good to have certifications in Confluent Kafka, AWS, or Terraform..
