DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will be tasked with overseeing all aspects of transportation construction activities. You will also support the verification of grades, elevations, and the layout of structures and roadways in collaboration with contractors and surveyors. It is crucial to evaluate the installation of materials, including cement concrete, bituminous concrete, drainage components, and other relevant materials. Conduct compaction testing using visual non-movement methods on sub-surface layers, soils, and aggregates. Engage with Department personnel, various federal, state, and local agencies, legislators, and the public to facilitate the successful management of projects. You will be responsible for maintaining a master diary, performing mathematical calculations, estimating item quantities and project costs, and managing all necessary project documentation, whether manually or electronically. Additionally, you will assist in addressing field issues, compile and document photographic evidence, prepare or review sketches, and create inspection review summaries. Ensure thorough documentation and verification of contractor work while collaborating as a member of the inspection team, adhering to the guidelines set forth in the Project Office Manual (Publication 2) and Publication 408.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Clearfield. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title); or Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles); or One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
