Novo Nordisk Associate Manager, Technical Support - FFEx in Clayton, North Carolina

About the Department

You will be joining Fill & Finish Expansions (FFEx), which is responsible for all major expansion activities within aseptic production, solid dosage forms, finished products, fill & finish warehousing, and QC across all production areas in Product Supply. The area is anchored in Product Supply, Quality & IT, which globally employ approx. 20,000 of Novo Nordisk’s 50,000 employees.

FFEx is a newly established and growing area with the responsibility to design, plan, and build all new aseptic filling capacity across Novo Nordisk to serve the needs of millions of patients. We do it by rethinking our production facilities with the use of modern technology, as we are setting the standards for the aseptic production of the future. Facilities designed today which we will still be proud of 20 years from now. FF Expansions has a global approach, where you will be working with multiple sites and cultures across the world.

The Position

Lead and manage assigned technical team in a 24/7 operations environment, to include overseeing day-to-day activities, optimizing processes, equipment, and systems for efficiency, availability and quality. Manage team members and ensure alignment with the overall strategy of the organization, while implementing strategies and goals set by higher-level managers to contribute to the overall success of the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Manage daily activities of the assigned technical team & ensure practices are standardized across shifts as needed and aligned with the department strategies

  • Ensure responsible equipment is designed, available, capable & accessible to meet production & business requirements

  • Enure execution & improvement of technical tasks in alignment with project or site targets based on assigned area of responsibility

  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities & implement them in order to maintain & improve equipment performance & quality

  • Schedule & execute plans in coordination with development or manufacturing schedules

  • Manage, lead & coach direct reports to ensure a high performing collaborative team environment

  • Provide continuous feedback, structure & accountability to improve team performance

  • Drive technical discussion & problem solving

  • Create, develop, define & implement dynamic key performance indicators for areas of responsibility

  • Collaborate with department leadership for oversight of training, development, coaching, performance management, recruitment & employee relations

  • Govern behavior based on the Novo Nordisk Way

  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties

  • Other accountabilities, as assigned

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time (% can change on a case-by-case basis based on the role).

    Development of People

    Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.

    Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.

    Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field from an accredited university required

  • May consider an Associate’s degree in technical field from an accredited university required with seven (7) years of experience working in Manufacturing, Maintenance, Process or equivalent industry experience

  • May consider a High School Diploma or equivalent required with nine (9) years of experience working in Manufacturing, Maintenance, Process or equivalent industry experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in Manufacturing, Maintenance, Process or equivalent industry experience required

  • Minimum of three (3) years of direct supervisory experience required

  • May consider demonstrated leadership experience related to technical activities or improvement project initiatives

  • Knowledgeable in the following systems: Compressed Air, Steam, Chilled Water, Pharmaceutical Utilities, Filling, Formulation, Sterilization, Water Purification, Assembly & Packaging. Driver for process improvement/design via cLEAN® & Six Sigma methodologies preferred

  • Proven expertise in mentoring/development, planning/organizing, managing execution & revising the work plan for complex problems solved by cross functional teams preferred

  • Ability to relate well to a wide cross section of stakeholders preferred

  • Proven expertise, (e.g., project management) in planning/organization & project execution, follow-up & completion preferred
