[JOB SUMMARY:]{.underline}   

The territory will include Central Ohio. Work in field conditions, out of a service truck, without the normal support functions of a service shop. Diagnose the cause of malfunction and perform the repair. Accept and seek out training and mentoring that will aid in the advancement of established career paths. Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts. Save and tag parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.   

   

Inspect the assigned vehicle to determine if additional service or safety-related work is required or recommended. Communicate with service management immediately if additional work is needed, if work requested is not needed, or if repairs will not be as initially expected or completed on the anticipated schedule. Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.   

   

Road-test vehicles when required. Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events. Attain industry certifications as required. Keep abreast of manufacturer updates and technical bulletins. Learn to use new information technology as it becomes available.   

   

Mentor less-skilled technicians as assigned. Report machinery and equipment defects and malfunctions to department management. Ensure that vehicle is kept clean. Report to department management immediately anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle. Keep the shop area neat and clean. Maintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and equipment including returning to a proper storage location when done.   

   

Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as EPA, OSHA, and DOT. Always working in a safe manner. Report any safety issues to management immediately.   

   

[COMPETENCIES:]{.underline}   

Must demonstrate the ability to follow technical material and apply processes and procedures as necessary to complete manufacturers' updates, as required. Must be organized, self-motivated, and able to work without direct supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Strong computer and software skills are required. Must be able to interact with customers on a day-to-day basis and explain needed repairs or the repairs that were made to the customer.   

   

*[JOB QUALIFICATIONS:]{.underline} *   

High School/GED; Class B CDL; Must have a vocational diploma or degree in diesel or truck repair; Five years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Must have a valid and clean driver's license (less than 4 moving violation points); Certifications preferred Cummins medium duty; Preferred school bus repair experience with multiplex wiring, understand the school bus operating systems and Braun wheelchair lift; Preferred understanding of the Ohio State inspection process of school buses annually.
