How You’ll Help Us Connect the World
Our Cable Connectivity Solutions Team provides innovative fiber optic and copper cable and connectivity solutions for use in data centers and business enterprise, telecommunications, cable television and residential broadband networks.
Our team is expanding and hiring for a Research and Development Product Engineer in the Fiber Cable Engineering group in Claremont, NC. The Engineering team provides innovation and support for the various fiber cable families offered by CommScope, including Premises, Indoor/Outdoor, and Outdoor Fiber cables. This position will also provide the opportunity to work with many other functional groups within CommScope, including Product Management, Field Application Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, and Quality.
This is an onsite role at Claremont, NC
Responsibilities:
• Design and implementation of new fiber optic cable products, including development of materials, physical construction, and process optimization in collaboration with other groups.
• Able to manage projects using CommScope's project management system.
• Be a point of contact for both internal and external technical support of fiber optic cable products, to include domestic and international business.
• Responsible for developing, scheduling, and implementing projects.
• Participation in industry standards development.
• Develop cable test plans, analyze the data, and create test reports.
• Routinely display initiative in achieving goals and objectives focused on cost reduction and innovation.
• Support our factories and able to work between our Claremont and Catawba N.C. facilities.
Required Qualifications for Consideration:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in related technical curriculum (mechanical, electrical or related)
• 2 - 5 years of related experience.
• Experience working in the fiber optic cable manufacturing industry.
• Sound safety and quality principles.
• Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products.
• Creative, analytical technical problem-solver.
• Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and balance day to day activities with project activity.
• Able to work independently and productively with little supervision.
• Able to work in cross-functional teams.
• Professional and assertive communication skills.
• 10% of travel within U.S.
You Will Excite us if you Have
• Experience with design or manufacturing of fiber ribbons and ribbon fiber cable.
• Ability to interface with Manufacturing personnel and coordinate development work in a manufacturing environment.
• 5 – 10 years of related experience
Our salary ranges consider a wide variety of factors including but not limited to benchmarking by independent third-party consultants, skill sets, years of experience, training, education, geography, and other business needs. Depending on experience, the range can be higher for candidates with exceptional experience and a demonstrated history of successful performance.
The candidate will be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including, medical, dental, and vision plans, life and accidental death insurance, a 401(k) plan, and participation in the Company’s Incentive Plan. Candidates starting with the Company will be eligible for eleven paid holidays in a full calendar year, two weeks of paid vacation (prorated based on start date), as well as other leave options.
