The Senior Counsel is a senior professional position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to manage and direct day-to-day legal activities in coordination with the Legal team. The overall objective of this role is to provide legal support, advice and guidance across a broad range of practice areas.
Responsibilities:
Manage day to day activities of Legal team(s) within a country, product or sub-unit
Evaluate employee performance and provide recommendations for pay increases, promotions, terminations, etc.
Provide legal advisory services to business managers and defend legal matters
Supervise external counsel and resolve moderately complex issues
Continuously stay informed of regulatory changes, new regulations, internal policy changes and developments in the law
Allocate and coordinate resources and conduct planning and budgeting activities, as needed
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
6-10 years of relevant experience
Valid Bar license to practice law
Banking/financial industry experience or experience from big law firm
Extensive knowledge and understanding of area of responsibility
Comprehensive knowledge of local, state and federal laws and practices
Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
Proven analytical and organizational skills
Education:
Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
Master's degree preferred

Abogado con más de ocho años de experiencia en materia fiduciaria y con conocimiento de la regulación aplicable.
Requisito indispensable haber trabajado en el sistema financiero, preferentemente en bancos, o en notarías.
Con experiencia en elaboración, revisión y negociación en contratos de fideicomisos de todo tipo, tales como garantía, administración, inversión, emisores, convenios modificatorios, así como agencias administrativas y de garantías en créditos sindicados, comisiones mercantiles y productos financieros en general.
Maestría (deseable)
Manejo de inglés avanzado (indispensable).
Indispensable experiencia teniendo gente a cargo, habilidades en comunicación, negociación y toma de decisiones.
