Job Title: Payroll and Benefits SpecialistJob Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Specialist responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefits. This role is crucial in ensuring that all payroll transactions, benefits administration, and compliance processes are handled efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the time and attendance process to ensure accurate timekeeping transactions.

  • Audit timesheets, monitor schedule changes, and maintain payroll and timekeeping records.

  • Process payroll and bonuses accurately and on time.

  • Evaluate and document time and attendance processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Verify employment status changes (e.g., transfers, promotions, terminations, LOAs) and payroll data for accuracy.

  • Ensure timely and accurate export and import of payroll data into HRIS.

  • Monitor and evaluate payroll service provider performance and resolve payroll-related issues promptly.

  • Run periodic payroll reports, audit for accuracy, and take corrective action as needed.

  • Prepare monthly and ad hoc reports accurately and on time.

  • Handle all audits and government reports related to payroll data.

  • Collaborate with the C&B team on assigned projects.

  • Serve as the primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators for benefits administration.

  • Reconcile monthly benefits invoices for accuracy and submit to accounting for payment.

  • Evaluate and document benefits processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and timely reporting and fee payments.

  • Supervise and coordinate benefits processing, including enrollments, COBRA, terminations, and claims.

  • Maintain employee benefits files, update the benefits database, and employee payroll records.

  • Audit the accuracy and performance of benefits functions performed by staff.

  • Coordinate customer service support for internal and external customers.

  • Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the benefits package.

  • Design and distribute materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment, and summary plan descriptions.

  • Collaborate with HQ personnel on payroll, benefits, and HRIS inquiries, responding promptly.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of Benefits Administration experience.

  • 3-5 years of full-cycle payroll experience.

  • Experience working with non-exempt employees.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now.

  • Knowledge of compensation and benefits, COBRA, terminations, LOAs, disability, and accident/death claims.

  • Experience with shift differentials and non-exempt payroll.

  • Experience with payroll and benefits audits.

  • Experience with multi-state payroll and benefits (international experience preferred).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • BA Degree (required for direct hire).

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification or willingness to obtain within one year of employment.

Work Environment

The work hours are from 9 AM to 6 PM, with some flexibility as the office opens at 8:30 AM. This position is 100% onsite in a manufacturing setting, but the individual will primarily work in an office. Note that the manufacturing floor has a distinct smell due to food production, but the specialist will spend little to no time there. The facility employs around 600 people globally, with 400 onsite. This role reports directly to the Director of HR and will be a one-person payroll team. This is a three-month leave coverage role that could potentially be extended or lead to a permanent position based on performance. A BA degree is flexible for the contract but required for direct hire.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
