UC HEALTH LLC Trainer- Athletic-Ortho in CINCINNATI, Ohio

The primary purpose of a clinical athletic trainer is to work with our primary care sports medicine physicians and orthopedic surgeons. In addition to clinic coverage, this position also has other programmatic requirements including, but not limited to, sports medicine phone triage coverage, continuing education, training, meetings and other fill in outreach coverage as needed for schools, clubs and tournaments.Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree - Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or Exercise Science | Certification and/or licensure in Athletic Training as defined by the State of Ohio (or state in which the employee will work). | Minimum Required: Recently certified, licensed or graduates within past 12 monthsPATIENT POPULATION - (CLINICAL ONLY) 5% Engages in population appropriate communication. Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks. Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment. Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient. Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary. Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems. Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately. Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely. Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect. Coordination of patient care services which includes education of patients on treatment and prevention of injuries, developing therapies to reduce pain and improve mobility under the direction of a provider - 15% Create, instruct and demonstrate exercises and instructions for patient care - 5% Cover sports clinics and events. - 5% Coordinate sports physicals for high school and professional sports teams - 10% Taking and making patient calls to triage patient concerns - 10% Apply and remove splints, wet plaster and fiberglass cast. - 15% Request X-Rays as indicated under the direction of the physician. - 10% Assist physicians in a clinic setting which includes patient evaluation - 10% Properly record patient information, vitals, and health history, etc. - 10% Other duties as assigned - 5% | Review the physical demands and assign an overall average percentage of time this position performs these activities.
