The Spring 2025 term dates are from 1/6/2025 - 4/25/2025

As a Co-op in the MedTech (MT) Quality Systems and Digital Services organization, you will have the chance to:

  • Collaborate with teams across J&J MedTech on software projects and software governance.

  • Support and/or perform validation activities for quality system solutions, including requirement development, validation planning, software testing, etc.

  • Learn and apply various software development and lifecycle management techniques.

  • Develop and contribute to training materials including procedures and knowledge articles.

  • Promote digital culture and capabilities across J&J medical devices.

  • Strengthen communication and leadership skills.

  • Work with a diverse team of quality engineers, data scientists, app developers, etc.

  • Take advantage of training courses offered at J&J.

  • Meet with Quality management to discuss risks and opportunities for the respective projects.

The QSDS Quality Engineer Co-op will:

  • Have the opportunity to work at and support J&J MedTech in Cincinnati, Ohio

  • Work in MT Quality Systems and Digital Services group.

  • Report directly to, and receive assignments from, MedTech QS Digital Strategy and Deployment Lead, while also working with the broader team for additional assignments.

  • Participate in and/or lead on-campus activities such as learning committees, volunteer events, and meet and greet luncheons with full time associates.

Co-ops are hired on a per-term basis, but availability for multiple rotations is desired. Students may be invited to return depending on their performance. If brought back for multiple rotations, responsibilities will increase with each rotation as experience is gained by returning to school.

The Quality Engineering Co-op program provides each student with a great support system, as well as the opportunity to meet people from various schools throughout the country. We offer a competitive wage (dependent on year in school) and housing assistance for non-local students who live 50 miles away from the Ethicon site.

All co-ops that qualify for housing assistance will receive a one-time taxable stipend to support the cost of living during the co-op term. Prior to the start date all co-ops will be connected with other incoming co-ops and provided with housing resources to individually secure housing arrangements. Transportation is not provided; all co-ops are responsible for securing their own transportation to and from the site daily.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited College/University pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering or a related field.

  • Be in your second year or above in school at the beginning of the co-op term in January 2025 with a graduation date after April 2025.

  • GPA of 3.0 or above.

  • Authorized to work in the United States during the full duration of the co-op (1/2025 - 4/2025).

  • Detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as on a team.

  • Ability to work with other teams and individuals using virtual tools (Microsoft Teams, etc).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and have strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated leadership/participation in campus programs and/or community service activities.

  • Previous quality related experiences.

  • Knowledge of FDA or regulatory guidance.

  • Medical related experience (previous co-op at medical device company, working volunteering at a hospital, etc.).

  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, etc.).

  • Programming (e.g. R, Python, etc.) experience is a bonus but not required.

The anticipated base pay for this position is Sophomore $24.75/hr, Junior $25.75/hr, Senior $27.75/hr, Masters degree $33/hr, Software Engineering major w/ 2 years' experience post-grad $37/hr, Ph.D. degree $51.50/hr. This is a duration-based role with ineligibility for severance.

  • Co-Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year

  • Co-Ops and Interns may be eligible to participate in the Companys consolidated retirement plan (pension)
