The Principal Engineer for Mammotome is responsible for preparing novel technologies for inclusion in new product development projects by working to reduce technical and customer acceptance risks, drive patent portfolio expansion to ensure market advantage by maintaining product differentiation.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Have a deep understanding of the current and future directions of our markets, clinical workflow, our customers’ needs and a broad range of technologies. Guide and educate the R&D and other cross-functional teams with this information.

  • Anticipate industry trends and provide recommendation for technology solutions and/or innovative direction.

  • Complete detailed investigating and testing of new technologies utilizing the TRL (technology readiness level) process to understand capabilities and reduce the risk of incorporating them into a new product development project.

  • Partner with R&D and Strategic Marketing leadership to ensure alignment between technology roadmap and product roadmaps.

  • Ensure technologies and solutions are sufficiently protected through proactive evaluation and capture of IP. Work closely with Innovation Leader and IP counsel to support the strategy and ensure proper patent coverage.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in engineering discipline required. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of related work experience required; experience must include New Product Development experience.

  • Experience with development of new products that incorporate aspects of mechanical, electrical, software and human factors engineering.

  • Medical Device Experience is required, with experience in developing medical device sterile disposables preferred.

  • Up to 10% travel with a mix of domestic and international locations; occasional overnight trips are required.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience working in an innovation or front-end technology investigation role.

The salary range for this role is $160,000 - $190,000 annually. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
