CBTS Technology Solutions LLC Network Engineer III - Viptela SD-WAN in Cincinnati, Ohio
Job Purpose
Provide network administration as a member of the CBTS team. Develop procedures and guidelines for the implementation and management of network administration as they relate to the managed hosting environment. Responsible for assisting in the implementation of network designs that deliver performance, reliability, and scalability. Responsible for managing growth plans by monitoring network performance and identifying capacity problems. Provide network administration as a member of the CBTS team. Work with Director - Engineering and others to develop procedures and guidelines for implementation and management of network administration as they relate to the managed hosting environment. Responsible for assisting in the implementation of network designs that deliver performance, reliability, and scalability. Responsible for managing growth plans by monitoring network performance and identifying capacity problems. Proactively monitor all aspects of network performance to identify problems and resolve them before they become service affecting. Responsible for cross-training other members of the CBTS team in the domain area of expertise of the position to broaden the knowledge base within the team.
VPN/SD-WAN Engineering - Lead Viptela Network Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Interacts with Architecture (IP and Security), Planning, Operations to implement equipment and designs as necessary
Ability to research, write requirements to test hardware and software to ensure interoperability and validation of features, functions and behavior.
Essential Functions
55% - Design and implementation of business solutions utilizing Networking equipment.
25% - Design, write, and maintain systems documentation and network diagrams.
10% - Team Leader responsibilities.
5% - Using network analysis, management, and performance monitoring tools to diagnose problems and determine the source.
5% - Network capacity analysis, planning, and management of all networks.
Experience
6 to 7 years of experience
Experience using network analysis, management, and performance monitoring tools to plan for growth, diagnose problems, and determine the source.
Hands-on experience with HP Openview, Cisco Works, and Navis Access.
Working experience with troubleshooting tools such as ping, traceroute, and dig.Familiarity with security-related Internet information sources, such as BugTraq, CERT, etc.
Experience with TCP/IP platforms involving dynamic routing protocols like EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP and their related control protocols.
Large scale network design and implementation experience is preferred+ years general networking required
5+ years general networking required
5+ Cisco 8500 Edge, 1K IOS/IOS-XE configuration experience (routers and switches)
5+ years SD-WAN design/configuration/troubleshooting experience required.
1-2 years network security experience (firewalling, IDS/IPS, URL Filtering, etc.) is preferred
3-5 years knowledge with Cisco/Viptela SD-WAN design and configuration required
3-5 years knowledge of advanced BGP features including redundant and multihomed designs is required
3-5 years knowledge of Multicast routing (PIM/IGMP) is required
Experienced in IPv6 and related protocols is preferred
Familiarity with consuming/producing REST API's required (Specific to Viptela is a plus)
Cisco VoIP solutions including router hardware, SRST is preferred
VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP, etc.) preferred
Education
- Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses
Cisco Certifications a must
Veritas Certifications a plus
Linux Certifications a plus
Solaris Certifications a plus
NT or Windows 2000 experience a plus
Project Management experience a huge plus
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of DS3, T1, OC3, ISDN, Frame Relay, SONET, ATM, and DSL and other bandwidth link specifications
Working knowledge of TCP/IP including V6 enhancements.
Working knowledge of TVP/IP enhancements such as multi-cast, QOS techniques, bandwidth, and path reservation techniques.
Working knowledge of network and server bandwidth management technologies, techniques, and topologies as they relate to specific types of data flows.
Working knowledge of the configuration and maintenance of routers, hubs, bridges, and switches.
Expertise in the certification of equipment, MOPs/network configurations.
Design, build, configure, and manage Cisco Catalyst/Viptela SDWAN solutions in Cisco AWS Cloud, including:
Tunnels to external cloud providers via internet breakouts from the WAN Edge.
Layer 2 knowledge of ethernet switching equipment and switching architectures used in Internet networks.
Expert level experience with protocols used on Internet networks- BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, BFD and LLDP, and their use
Detailed experience in BGP route policy and the redistribution of routes between protocols.
Expert level knowledge and experience with BGP route reflector architecture and configurations across multiple address families.
Expert level troubleshooting knowledge with multiple vendor routing and forwarding architectures to resolve possible production issues or design behavior issues.
Strong knowledge the UDP and TCP protocols to help design secure and efficient Internet Networks.
Expert level experience with creating Layer 3/Layer 4 filters and ACLs and creating configurations to meet requirements.
Solid experience with QoS traffic classification, remarking and per class queuing. Create QoS configurations to meet
Product specifications and to resolve production issues.
Strong knowledge of distributed denial of service equipment and protocols
Applies advanced engineering and network principles, theories, concepts and technologies to solve unusually complex problems and issues
Interacts and drives vendor requirements, resolution of bug fixes, code upgrades, and vendor development as necessary
Resolves difficult production/interoperability problems by working with cross functional teams and applying advanced engineering and network principles, theories and concepts
Supervisory Responsibilities
Leads Work Teams (assigns, coordinates, and checks work) for employees doing similar work
