Demonstrate expertise to gain recognition as an authority in your field and establish a local referral base. Document patient care thoroughly and implement innovative approaches. Offer specialized consultations, examine patients, and coordinate their care. Perform assessments and make informed decisions about treatment plans. Monitor and adjust patient-specific plans, ensuring timely care for discharged patients. Promote positive patient outcomes continuously. * Teaching and Training - The individual is responsible for teaching and supervising the patient care of assigned medical students, residents, and fellows, ensuring that the medical care provided is both safe and effective. Their contributions may include being recognized as an excellent teacher, role model, and mentor. They may assume significant roles in major teaching or clinical training programs and may be invited to participate in local and regional educational opportunities. Additionally, they may be involved in the development or direction of educational programs, curricular offerings, and teaching materials, as well as participating in curriculum committees or other education-related committees. The individual may also serve as a consultant to other faculty members and community physicians. They may prepare, organize, and deliver lectures for residents and regularly teach at the bedside in their division. They are expected to participate in all divisional and departmental educational activities and maintain their knowledge in the field through continuing education, literature review, and attending seminars. * Service and/or Administration - The individual participates in service and administration by demonstrating one or more of the following: - Contributing to the development of patient care programs or educational initiatives. - Taking on a leadership role within their academic division. - Providing consultation for specific program development. - Engaging in performance improvement programs. - Serving on divisional, departmental, or medical staff committees. Additionally, the individual provides faculty coverage as needed within the department and actively participates in all division activities. It is essential to stay informed about departmental policies, procedures, and standards. Promoting both interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships and encouraging teamwork is crucial. The individual should support the implementation of both long-term and short-term goals and objectives, ensuring they align with the division's aims.
