Our Unit: The 7AB Medical/Surgical ICU at TriHealth Good Samaritan Hospital is a specialized 19-bed unit dedicated to providing intensive care for a wide range of patients. This includes post-surgical patients requiring close monitoring, individuals with complex medical or respiratory conditions, and those undergoing continuous dialysis or receiving support from intra-aortic balloon pumps. The unit also cares for patients who need controlled ventilation or have severe complications, such as bleeding, sepsis, or post-surgical issues. Additionally, the 7AB ICU handles patients who require continuous cardiac monitoring, hemodynamic monitoring through Swan-Ganz catheters or arterial lines, and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring. Staffing on 7AB is carefully adjusted to meet patient needs, with a charge nurse present on every shift to oversee operations. Orientation for new staff members ranges from six to eight weeks for those with prior experience, and includes a critical care internship as well as specialized EKG and critical care classes to ensure all nurses are well-prepared for the demands of the unit. While one year of medical/surgical experience is preferred, new graduate nurses are also welcome to join and grow their skills in this supportive environment. The Registered Nurse at MSICU applies the nursing process in providing direct and indirect holistic care to patients and their families. The position also collaborates, in a collegial manner, with physicians and other health care team members in meeting the patient's needs. This position may delegate certain aspects of care to those under their direct supervision, within the scope of nursing practice. Minimum Job Requirements: * Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing. New hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire. * RN with valid license in OH. BLS/CPR (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers) * Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex health care needs at various stages of the life cycle * Preferred membership in related professional organization * Must have 1+ of experience in Telemetry or MedSurg as Registered Nurse. Completes initial assessment tool. Documents ongoing assessment per unit/TriHealth guidelines. Communicates assessment findings to other health care providers as appropriate. Includes health counseling and health teaching needs in assessment. Plans care for patient and family based on assessment, standards of care, and optimal specific outcomes. Initiates and individualizes appropriate patient care guidelines/plan of care or clinical pathways. Updates current plan of care as needed based on patient/family input and healthcare needs. Develops both short and long term goals with patient/family and healthcare team includi
