Cleaning Technologies Group Electrical Designer in Cincinnati, Ohio

Job Title: Electrical Designer

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Director of Engineering

Exemption Classification: Salary, Exempt

Summary: Design and engineer equipment utilizing the prepared proposal, budget, and customer specifications to produce products and computer-generated schematics and panel layouts while focusing on project budgets and timeline.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS to PERFORM DUTIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the electrical design content of several projects from project start in engineering to final acceptance by customer.

• Design panels and electrical schematics utilizing AutoCAD Electric while following code and drawing standards.

• Review engineering file prepared by sales and proposal.

• Review customer’s project specifications and use as a design tool.

• Interact and communicate with project managers, vendors, and the controls group as project dictates.

• Requisition all necessary purchased & stock material for machines through purchasing within proposed budget constraints.

• Support R&D initiatives.

• Prepare customer approval drawings.

• Prepare electrical, manufacturing and maintenance manual line up forms.

• Assist manufacturing personnel as needed to ensure smooth build of machinery.

• Work with purchasing to expedite materials when needed.

• Electrical drawing package generation.

• Follow up on punch list items prior to machine shipment.

• Prepare and distribute all project related documentation and correspondence.

• Field support as needed.

• Manage the Reliability and Maintainability issues for assigned jobs to meet Quality requirements.

• Responsible for departmental budget compliance.

• Other functions as directed.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None. May assist in the training of new employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree in engineering, and/or 2 to 4 years of relevant technical experience. Must have basic knowledge of computers, electrical and design concepts, with experience in AutoCAD Electric. Project management experience is a plus. Must have basic Microsoft Office products knowledge. Capital equipment experience a plus.

Language Skills: Must be able to communicate verbally and/or in writing with other employees, other departments, supervision, customers, and management. Must be able to present information to groups of employees, customers, vendors etc.

Mathematical Skills: Must be able to perform advanced level mathematic reasoning, as well as use calculations consistent with the electrical design of equipment in the cleaning equipment industry.

Reasoning Ability: Be able to identify work process problems and possible solutions.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Maintain local, regional and/or national membership in appropriate professional organizations/associations as necessary.

Physical Demands: Sit at workstation for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to adjust visual focus. May be required to reach, stoop and/or bend on an as needed basis. Must be able to climb stairs as necessary.

Work Environment: Work in controlled environment of office, along with traditional shop atmosphere. Can be exposed to loud noises and various fumes or smells based on job. Work around high voltage machinery.

Travel: Must be able to periodically travel to customer’s jobsite for startups, machine commissioning and warranty work as dictated by project (this is not normal).
