The Department of Surgery is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff. A full-time Advanced Practice Provider position is available in the Department of Surgery, Division of Transplantation Surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.This position will provide direct patient care for liver, kidney and pancreas transplant patients, as well as hepatobiliary surgical patients and vascular access patients, in the surgical intensive care unit, med/surg floor, and outpatient clinic under direction of transplant surgeons and physicians. The candidate will join a team of six Advanced Practice Provider and will interact closely with a large multi-disciplinary group including surgeons, physicians, pharmacists, dieticians, nurse coordinators, nurses, trainees (fellows, residents, and medical students), as well as consulting services across the medical center and the region. The candidate must be detail oriented, well organized, adaptable, and an excellent communicator with willingness and ability to provide continuity across transitions of care. The candidate will have opportunity to participate in quality improvement and clinical research projects, depending on area of interest. Essential Functions Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the data in the patient's record; write progress notes and narrative discharge summaries; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings. Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient. Carry out therapeutic wound suturing and dressing changes; monitor progress of patients, report progress to supervising physician, and maintain record of each patient's progress. Participate in basic science and clinical research projects conducted by supervising physician; prepare statistical reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Train new personnel. Participate in teaching medical students, residents, fellows, physician assistant students, nurse practitioner students, and pharmacy students in techniques and procedures which are unique to specific clinical setting.
