Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$37.503 - $48.391 - $59.279

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

* This position is a HYBRID role with some days expected in the office*

What You Will Do

Reporting to the SCVMC Director of Marketing and Communications, this position is responsible for supporting the planning and implementation of comprehensive marketing and communications initiatives in support of the organization's business and marketing goals. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1) assists director with strategy development for service lines and other key priorities; 2) oversees media relations and social media efforts; 3) produces marketing collateral for entity clients; 4) leads planning and implementation of certain marketing events and supports community/outreach activities for the hospital; 5) serves as lead writer for various internal and external communications tools; 5) oversees video projects; 6) prepares monthly marketing reports; 7) oversees department intern program.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations (work experience may substitute for education)

  • 4 Years Experience in marketing communications within an agency and/or large regional organization encompassing multiple communications disciplines, including media relations

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implementLeads planning and implementation of certain marketing events and supports community/outreach activities for the hospital.Responsible for planning and implementation of marketing events for Women's and Infants Services and Orthopedic service lines.Supports Director with planning and implementation of marketing events for Oncology and Cardiovascular service lines, as well as New Tower.Supports entity special events including, but not limited to: CORE Awards and employee forums.

  • Internal and External CommunicationsServes as lead writer for various internal and external communications tools.Writes and edits copy for internal communications, including SharpNET, employee e-newsletter and Chula Vista Communications emails.Writes and edits copy for external communications including Sharp.com, social media sites, and Sharp online newsroom.Works with Digital Marketing to ensure that Sharp Chula Vista information on Sharp.com and SharpNET is kept current.Collaborates with marketing manager in preparation of PowerPoint presentations.Takes and edits photographs and video of employees, physicians, volunteers and patients for communication vehicles.

  • Media relationsOversees media relations and social media efforts.Develops ideas for media pitches in support of key priorities.Develops ideas for and maintains calendar of social media posts for Sharp Chula Vista and Barnhart Cancer Center Facebook pages.Works with Digital Marketing to share posts on system Twitter and Instagram accounts.Works with reporters, photographers and TV news crews on proactive and reactive stories.Obtains patient and employee consent forms to ensure patient privacy rights and adherence to HIPAA laws.Writes and sends press releases, media advisories, and pitches for the media.Develops and maintains positive relationships with experts and members of the media.Shares responsibility with Senior Hispanic Marketing Specialist on Spanish-language media coverage.Maintains files of media clips and tracking reports.Shares responsibility with Marketing Division team members in responding to media inquiries and assuming media on-call duties.

  • Produces marketing collateralProduces marketing collateral for entity clients.Shares responsibility with Director for meeting with clients to discuss need and project scope and develop content.Works with Creative Services or vendors to write/proof copy, provide design direction and other necessary information, and route layout for input/approval.Works with Translation Services to ensure appropriate translation of relevant materials.

  • Program managementOversees department intern program.Oversees department intern program, including coordination with school, selection of candidates, interviewing and daily assignment of duties, training and coaching.

  • In-house video productionOversees video projects.Develops ideas for video content.Works with Multimedia Services on video conception, writing, and editing.Coordinates distribution of video content.Films using department video cameras as needed.

  • Strategy developmentAssists director with strategy development for service lines and other key priorities.Attends planning meetings.Participates in the development of marketing and budget plans.Maintains and shares monthly marketing and media reports.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Previous health care experience preferred.

  • Experienced with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet Explorer) and learning new software products.
