City of Chicopee Youth Basketball Scorekeeper in Chicopee, Massachusetts
YOUTH BASKETBALL SCOREKEEPER Youth Basketball Scorekeeper Position Title: Youth Basketball Scorekeeper Department: DPW Parks and Recreation Employment Status: Chapter 7 Ordinance, Non-Exempt; Seasonal Salary: \$15.00 (Ages 9-10), \$16.00 (Ages 11-12), \$18.00 (Ages 13-14) per game/hour Licenses: N/A The City of Chicopee Department of Public Works / Parks & Recreation Division is seeking Youth Basketball Scorekeepers. This is an opportunity to dedicate time to assist with the local youth basketball league, contribute and be a part of a positive cause, helping to promote fair and fun experiences amongst young athletes. Basketball Scorekeepers dedicate their time to monitor youth basketball games, complete scorebooks and operate time clocks throughout the duration of the season. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Arrive on site 15 mins before the schedule game start time 2. Greet and introduce self to basketball officials 3. Sit at scorer?s table to keep the scorebook and time clock. 4. Take direction from the basketball official(s) assigned to the game. 5. Monitor play for accuracy in recording all scores, and fouls fairly for both teams. 6. Provide instruction to players at lower divisions as seems appropriate 7. Provide information from scorecard to team managers who may be tracking statistics. Do not however, engage in any conflict over the records. Call over the Basketball official for any disagreements regarding the record of the game. 8. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor in all situations especially when others are becoming agitated. Address remarks to officials rather than fans or coaches. 9. Must provide a report, by phone or in writing if requested, of any player, coach, or spectator that creates a disruption to the game situation to Recreation Supervisor. 10. Completion of job application, interview, and school approved working paper and all requested documentation. 11. Attend mandatory basketball scorekeeper training QUALIFICATIONS To be minimally qualified for this position, one must meet the following criteria: Experience playing basketball in recreation leagues or trained as a physical education teacher or in a related area sufficiently to be knowledgeable of the rules of Basketball at the youth level. Experience engaging children in play or sports. Minimum age requirement: 15.5 years of age for scorekeepers. Ability to meet and complete the City of Chicopee?s pre-employment requirements.
