Aerotek EHS Specialist in Chickamauga, Georgia

Job Description:

  • Employee Health and Safety Coordinator:

  • Support safe working conditions and establish safety goals.

  • Sponsor the Safety Committee and Emergency Response Teams, providing guidance, structure, and resources to comply with local, state, and federal laws.

  • Ensure all incidents are reported immediately and participate in investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions.

  • Manage effective health and safety processes to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

  • Review and interpret OSHA regulations effectively, ensuring clear communication across the organization.

  • Handle all workers' compensation-related injuries, reporting claims and managing communications with injured employees, clinics, and supervisors regarding return to work and claims processing.

  • Maintain accurate safety-related records and perform general housekeeping duties to uphold a safe and clean 5S environment.

  • Comply with directives on the use of PPE.

  • Conduct respirator fit testing and manage medical evaluations for employees requiring respiratory protection.

  • Conduct employee training and certification on the safe operation of various equipment.

  • Conduct required routine inspections of the facility and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

  • Ensure knowledge in rigging and crane safety, including conducting above-the-hook and below-the-hook inspections.

  • Maintain knowledge of OSHA 300 and 300A annual reporting requirements and prepare accurate reports as necessary.

  • Possess knowledge of NFPA regulations as they pertain to fire safety, hazardous materials and emergency response.

Environmental Management:

  • Conduct water sampling and lab testing to monitor compliance with water quality standards.

  • Oversee air permitting processes and ensure adherence to air quality regulations.

  • Prepare and submit emissions reporting to regulatory agencies as required.

  • Manage hazardous waste shipping, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

  • Complete Tier Il reporting to provide information on hazardous chemicals present at the facility.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Review current processes and make recommendations for improvements in EHS policies and practices.

  • Develop and implement new initiatives aimed at enhancing workplace safety and environmental compliance.

  • Regularly assess and analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Collaborate with management to establish clear performance metrics and goals related to EHS initiatives.

  • Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with established safety standards and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops to promote a culture of continuous improvement and safety awareness.

  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging regulations, integrating relevant changes into the EHS program.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or a related field preferred; applicable years of EHS experience may be considered.

  • CPR Certification and First Aid training required.

  • Required to obtain RCRA and DOT Hazmat certification.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Familiarity with JJ Keller software or similar tools for claims reporting and OSHA filings.

  • Strong analytical skills and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledgeable in OSHA 300 and 300A annual reporting requirements.

  • Knowledge in rigging and crane safety, including the ability to perform inspections.

  • Knowledge of NFPA regulations as they pertain to fire safety and hazardous materials.

  • Related education and experience may also be considered in lieu of other requirements.
