UL, LLC VP IT, Global Technology in Chicago, Illinois
Reporting to UL Solutions Chief Information Officer, the VP IT, Global Technology is a strategic role who will be accountable for UL Solutions’ IT Infrastructure, operations and end user computing. This senior position will oversee and enable the future state strategy for the Global Technology organization to meet business demand, solve problems and ensure resilient operations through technology for both our customer and internal employees. This senior leadership position ensures that the global technology strategy aligns with the organization’s goals and ensures the talent, process and solutions support these goals. Focused on leading and continuously improving the UL colleague experience with technology, the leader will also define the strategy, service offerings, and workforce to achieve organization objectives. The leader will collaborate with other IT leaders, across the Transformation & Innovation organization (Digital and Cybersecurity) to delivery projects, provide modern, efficient, and resilient infrastructure as well as ensure employees receive a seamless high-quality computing and support experience.
Develop overall roadmap and strategy for Global Technology, including:
Infrastructure Services and Collaboration Services strategy encompassing the solutions, products and services, along with measurements and service level agreements.
IT Operations strategy and plan encompassing a holistic, global, 24x7 approach across infrastructure, end user computing, applications including system monitoring, recovery as well as environment management.
A plan and approach to continuously improve the employee experience and user support area, focusing on exceptional employee experience in all interactions with IT.
Develop a strategy to provide efficient 24x7 operations through a sourcing and location strategy for Infrastructure & Operations.
Monitors and provides regular updates on the overall resiliency of the IT environment (applications, infrastructure, and end user computing).
Manages a framework across the supplier network to ensure UL Solutions receives value, obligations are met and provides regular feedback on supplier performance.
Partners with Sourcing to negotiate supplier agreements.
Implements avenues for gaining employee feedback on their IT experience and develop action plans based on this feedback.
Creates and publishes IT metrics to ensure quality, timely and consistent delivery and progress against strategy.
Work closely with IT leaders to understand technology products and changes being planned and to ensure the Global Technology team has all the necessary information, training and support processes required for a successful deployment.
Leads the teams who analyze incident management trends, conducts root cause analysis and resolution plans.
Provides direction on what emerging technologies should be incorporated into products and services to successfully deliver overall IT strategy.
Acts to assure the integrity and security of information technologies and/or systems. Collaborates with the Cybersecurity team to ensure Infrastructure & Operations embrace and apply security strategy
Manages the performance of direct reports by developing accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing career counseling, feedback and guidance and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.
Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices
Performs other duties as directed.
University Degree Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline plus generally 15 years of experience in the IT field or related business area, at least 10 years’ experience serving as an global IT leader with budgetary responsibilities
Advanced level knowledge and understanding of monitoring tools, networks, servers, incident management best practices, and user support/client experience strategies
Experience leading and managing large IT teams, including outsourced vendor resources
Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments required.
Broad experience in a wide variety of sub-functions within IT
Experience with complex customer interactions, products, and services
Experience leading high priority incidents and building the necessary response protocols as well as executive level communications
Ability to develop and integrate new ideas and initiatives that improve the performance of the organization
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong ability to balance priorities and driving to execution
