The Value Analysis Nurse will work with key clinical professionals across NLH, participate in, and partner with other Supply Chain (SC) staff on SC strategic integration efforts; help execute strategic plans around EMHS SC initiatives; ensure compliance with EMHS members, and help facilitate streamlined product/equipment review, trials, and transition to new products/equipment across EMHS. Supports strategic planning for overall supply chain operations and alignment with system level strategic plan.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The VA Nurse will be responsible for standardization of Value Analysis process across NLH and ensuring there is effective communication with all members of the multi-disciplinary teams

  • Research clinical evidence for requested products

  • Appropriate engagement of subject matter experts for new technologies for value assessment and appropriate clinical utilization

  • Oversight of new product trials

  • Ensuring incorporation of clinical data for evidence-based value assessment of new products

  • Direct communication with physicians as needed. Identifying opportunities for standardization of existing products

  • The VA nurse will also partner with clinical improvement teams to drive device/product utilization standardization within a service line

  • Aggregation of physician specific cost, quality, and outcomes data to engage physicians in efforts to reduce unnecessary variations in utilization

  • Education of stakeholders at all levels to reach consensus on need to reduce variations to drive toward improved patient outcomes

  • Work with contracting team to optimize clinical value on contracts with suppliers

  • Co-chair Value Analysis Teams with Physician Lead and coordinate subcommittee or Ad-hoc meeting activities as appropriate

  • Works with Team Lead to prepare literature and data for presentations

  • Compiles, analyzes, and interprets data per business need

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse license

  • BLS

  • 2+ years of hospital nursing experience in a surgical or procedural setting

  • Proficient computer skills in the following: Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Demonstrated initiative and problem solving/analytical skills

  • Proven organized, flexible and able to work independently

  • Proven solid communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to travel 10-25% in the state of Maine as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in nursing (BSN)

  • 3+ years of experience in value analysis

  • Supervisory experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
