Jacobs Transportation Civil Engineer in Chicago, Illinois

As part of our Advanced Mobility Team, you will have the chance to work on exciting and engaging transportation infrastructure projects in the Midwest and nationally utilizing your design experience. Our Chicago-based Advanced Mobility Team challenges ourselves every day to find new solutions to complex, multi-modal transportation problems.
Your knowledge will be used to advance the transportation team and build relationships with our clients. Typical duties will vary based on experience level but will include:
• Preparation of Plans Specifications and Estimates
o Intelligent transportation systems,
o traffic signal design,
o highway lighting,
o telecommunications
• Completion of traffic studies using traffic modeling tools.
• Preparation of reports and technical memos.
• Conducting field evaluations.
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a focus on transportation/highway engineering
• Course work related to transportation / highway engineering
• Engineer in Training (EIT/FE)
• Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain within two years of employment
• Experience working on roadway and civil design projects
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel on occasion
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Related experience required (Co-operative or engineering internship)
• Experience using CADD/Design software (Bentley Open Roads and AutoCAD/Civil 3D)
Ideally, you’ll also have:
• Masters Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in transportation.
• Knowledge of, and experience applying traffic engineering concepts using the highway capacity software, Synchro or other microsimulation software.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Strong time management and attention to detail
Other Essential Functions:
Candidate must have passed the FE exam and working towards PE license. Some work-related travel will be required. Candidate should be eager to learn, willing to take on new tasks, interact with clients, and grow professionally with Jacobs.
