Robert Half Systems Engineer in Chicago, Illinois

Description

Overview:

As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization's IT infrastructure. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our systems.

Responsibilities:

  • System Design and Architecture: Develop and implement system architectures that align with business objectives and meet scalability, performance, and security requirements.

  • Design and document system configurations, including hardware, software, and network components.

  • System Implementation: Install, configure, and test new systems and upgrades.

  • Migrate systems to new platforms or environments.

  • System Maintenance and Optimization: Monitor system performance and identify potential issues.

  • Optimize system performance and resource utilization.

  • Perform regular maintenance tasks, including backups, updates, and patching.

  • Security: Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems and data from threats.

  • Conduct security assessments and vulnerability scans.

  • Automation: Develop and implement automation scripts to streamline system administration tasks and improve efficiency.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Strong technical skills, including knowledge of server hardware, operating systems (Windows, Linux), networking, and virtualization technologies.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Experience with system design and architecture.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems.

  • Strong understanding of IT security best practices.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Server+.
