The Frances Xavier Warde School Nfp Summer Camp Specialist in Chicago, Illinois

Job Summary/Duties and Responsibilities

Camp Specialists will create their own specialized courses and curriculum to lead children aged 4 years through 13 years. We are looking for Specialists in the areas of, Arts and Crafts, Cooking, Dance, Science, Sports, Pioneering, or any other area you feel may benefit the camp program.

Job duties

  • Provide campers with an engaging, stimulating and safe environment.

  • Create and execute age-appropriate lessons in their specific area of expertise.

  • Prepare a 6 week curriculum for all age groups.

  • Provide leadership with enthusiasm.

  • Enforce all rules that pertain to the Day Camp and facility on a constant basis.

  • Adhere to check-in and check-out policy.

  • Follow and adhere to discipline procedures.

  • Maintain cleanliness and order of their camp classroom in order to ensure safety.

  • Ensure the safe use of the equipment and execution of the planned activities through enforcement of facility and activity-specific regulations.

  • Protect, maintain, and be accountable for group camp supplies such as assigned radio, folder.

  • Report any and all facility defects/problems to Director of Auxiliary Programs.

  • Attend all mandatory meetings/training.

  • Provide excellent customer service and communication with parents if needed.

  • Interface respectfully with peers, supervisors, and customers of various socio-economic backgrounds.

  • Handle disputes with participants, in a professional manner with guidance of Director of Auxiliary Programs.

  • Communicate any disciplinary issues to Division Heads and Director of Auxiliary Programs.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background teaching students in area of expertise

  • 1 year of Lesson planning and execution

  • Must be 18 years of age or older and be available for all 6 weeks to be considered.

  • For the summer of 2023, all camp employees who are eligible to receive the vaccine, need to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 before beginning.

  • A valid First Aid and CPR Certification issued by an authorized agency.

  • Compensation varies based on experience and role within the camp.
