This is not an ALPA Union position. The test pilot in this role will work in-person at United's Network Operations Center in Arlington Heights, IL, multiple times each month (3-5 visits monthly).

This position will be posted through November 16, 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Manager - Flight Test Training & Standards oversees and coordinates global operations of Flight Test in the conduct of post-maintenance functional check, developmental, new airplane acceptance, special ferry permit, and other flight activities. The senior manager is also responsible for the safe conduct of all test flights, including risk assessment of test maneuvers and Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) airport test operations. In addition, the senior manager collaborates on the development of flight test standards, flight test publications, and the test pilot training program, to include initial and recurrent with the Flight Test Training Manager. Coordinates as necessary with the NOC, Technical Operations, Engineering and Quality Control divisions to provide the highest quality of line airplanes to support the line operation.

• Defines, develops, and administers United Airlines Flight Test Operations

• Daily management of the global test flying operation

• Maintains program documentation and coordinates with airplane manufacturers and other industry stakeholders as needed

• Collaborates with the Flight Test Training Manager with the development of Flight Test Standards

• Works with other airline divisions to ensure Flight Test operations are supported as required

• Manages Flight Test operations and NRFO Group 2 flying to ensure compliance with airline policies and FAA regulations

• Ensures accurate and timely delivery of Flight Test reports (monthly, quarterly, ad hoc) to senior division leadership as required

• Ensures Group 2 Non Revenue Flight Operations are conducted safely and efficiently

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• Bachelor's degree or related experience

• Test Pilot School graduate

• Bachelors degree in technical, engineering or aviation related field

• 9+ years of relevant experience

• 5 years experience working in an Airline or Aviation Flight operations capacity

• Proven experience working through complex analysis and experience in developing corrective actions

• ATP with multiple type ratings in United airplanes

-First Class Medical

• Working knowledge of Test Flight and Safety Management Systems

• Strong interpersonal, verbal and presentation skills

• Must have skills in working complex programs or projects

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

• USAF, USN, or Empire Test pilot school

• 5 years experience in United Airlines Flight Test

• Chief Test Pilot experience

• Experimental test flight experience
