Wolters Kluwer Senior Content Editor - Harmonization in Chicago, Illinois

This is a hybrid role requiring 2 days in office per week

Basic Function

The Senior Content Editor will manage the editorial processes related to one or more content harmonization-related initiatives. They will work with co-harmonization team leads to identify processes for editorial teams to collaborate on aligning content and keeping it aligned through the post-harmonization maintenance efforts. They will help communicate the work of the harmonization team(s) by providing status updates and preparing presentation materials to demonstrate team accomplishments, proposals, and plans. They will provide reports to the editorial team that help to improve the presentation of content and will find ways to continuously improve our ability to detect and prevent errors.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

The Senior Content Editor may maintain some amount of standard editorial work (working with Deputy Editors (DEs), corresponding with external contributors, tracking specialty progress, ensuring all published content is complete and error-free). In addition, the Senior Content Editor also has the following core responsibilities:

  • Leading major content-related initiatives, including:

  • Working with DE and Content Editing Associate (CEA) team to establish processes and best practices

  • Defining and documenting the roles of all involved parties (internal and external)

  • Determining plans for how and when to add additional CEAs to project team

  • Coordinating team meetings to provide updates on project and discuss issues and action plans/next steps

  • Identifying and implementing needed changes to the content development/editorial process

  • Providing regular status updates on harmonization and post-harmonization work

  • Working with internal software developers/QA engineers to define content management system requirements

  • Serving as point person for Content Harmonization Application (CHA) user queries; maintaining guidance documents/FAQ materials, providing training for new users

  • Identifying and implementing features to improve post-harmonization work across harmonized content

  • Coordinating efforts to improve content quality, including distribution of error logs, working with the software developer/QA teams to triage problems found on export, and leading efforts to improve our ability to detect and prevent errors

  • Functioning as a leader and role model among the Editorial Operations group; serving as a contact person for questions and issues that come up involving editorial work

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree demonstrating evidence of communication skills, analytical thinking, and collaborative problem solving

Experience:

  • 3+ years of project management experience (ideally, working within an editorial or publishing team using content management tools)

  • Proven ability to maintain strong organization while managing multiple projects simultaneously

  • Comfortable with and confident in making decisions

Additional Experience & Skills:

  • Editorial or publishing background, strongly preferred

  • High level of initiative and strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong analytical skills, with ability to collect, absorb, and analyze information independently

  • Experience with MS Suite, including strong proficiency with Excel to create reports and implement advanced features to reduce time spent on data compilation

  • Ability to effectively work within a team

  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, time management, organization, and leadership skills
