Role Summary

Caterpillar is looking for an experienced Senior Product Owner / Business Analyst to join our digital product management team in our journey to shape the future of how we best support our customers. In this role, you will be an advocate and bring passion and empathy for helping some of the hardest working people on the planet - Cat customers and dealers.

Through collaboration with our business partners, as well as peer product and engineering teams, you will play a critical role in our digital experiences that both transform and simplify our customers’ and dealers’ day to day work as they interact with our online parts selling site, Parts.cat.com. This will be accomplished by understanding our customers’ needs and workflow, as well as our business objectives. You will then translate those needs into business requirements, consistently validating with direct customer/dealer feedback along the way.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for conveying the vision and goals at the beginning of every sprint

  • Responsible for creating, maintaining and prioritizing user stories for the Product Backlog according to business value

  • Communicate Product Backlog stories and lead priorities to the team

  • Act as the key decision-maker regarding what features the product will have

  • Lead with the elaboration of epics, themes and features into user stories that are small enough, or granular enough, to be achieved in a single sprint

  • Responsible for making decisions on release dates and content

  • Inspect the product and story progress at the end of every Sprint and accept or reject the work that has been done by the Development Team

  • Coordinates with product development engineers to track and communicate design, development, support, and maintenance problems and solutions.

  • Actively Participate Scrum ceremonies such as Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Retrospectives, Sprint Demos

  • Be a good role model of Scrum values and a champion for the agile community; understand the framework and the roles of each team member

  • Identifies, documents, and reports design, reliability and maintenance problems and bugs. Gathers and consolidates feedback from customers and field staff.

  • Coordinates with field support specialists and customers to address and resolve problems and expand product usage.

  • Represent the customer, interfacing and engaging with the customer

What you will have:

  • Business Analysis: Knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Consideration for top candidates:

  • Four-year bachelor's degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Marketing, Engineering or related field or equivalent working experience

  • Three (3)+ years in digital product management, User Experience, User Research, digital strategy, or related function

  • Experience managing projects using Product Management and/or Agile software tools such as Aha, Product Board, Azure DevOps

  • Ability to work well within multiple teams including business/commercial partners, cross-product portfolio, development in a fast-paced onshore/offshore team model environment

  • Product Owner certification (Certified Scrum Product Owner from Scrum Alliance)

  • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and demonstrated experience employing SDLC in aspects of the project management process

Additional Details:

This position has the option to be based out of either our Chicago, IL; Peoria, IL; Irving, TX (Dallas); or Westminster, CO offices with a flexible hybrid work environment.

Summary Pay Range:

$110,520.00 - $179,640.00
