Job Summary

The Department of Medicine, Section of Cardiology is looking for a Research Project Manager to work on: Cardiovascular research, with a focus on understanding the molecular (fundamental) mechanisms underlying heart rhythm disorders such as atrial fibrillation and ventricular arrhythmias (such as ventricular tachycardia).

The Research Project Manager will manage and oversee several ongoing Cardiac electrophysiology research projects. They will work with the Principal Investigators and help with data collection and ensure data collection protocols are followed. The Project Manager is also encouraged to participate in the analysis and interpretation of the data under the direction of the larger team of investigators and the Principal Investigators.

Specifically, the candidate will help with all aspects of research, including performance of large animal electrophysiology experiments, wet lab experiments (e.g. cloning, protein chemistry experiments etc.) and analysis of electrophysiology and tissue data. The individual in this role will also be involved in all aspects of the development and analysis of research projects focused on population variation in immune responses. This candidate may also present work at scientific meetings and provide peer review of grant applications and scientific manuscripts.

Responsibilities

  • Responsiblefor administrative management and support of all research projects.
  • Will support multiple active protocols, maintain regulatory documentation, Standard Operating Procedures, and train staff members to ensure compliance.
  • Lead administrative role in preparing/submitting new grant proposals, non-disclosure and sponsored research agreements, and IRB protocols and amendments.
  • Manage projects and budgets throughout project lifecycles.
  • Focus on the development and optimization of a highly novel, non-viral gene delivery approach to facilitate cardiac gene delivery in the atria and ventricles.
  • Identify new molecular targets for gene-based treatment of atrial fibrillation.
  • Collaborates with other researchers as appropriate.
  • Assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) in designing new experiments.
  • Harvesting, analyzing, and interpreting data; drafting manuscripts.
  • Presenting data at research conferences.
  • Applies research principles and relevant subject matter knowledge relevant to administer a research project. With a moderate level of direction, manages lab and/or research-related duties and tasks. Helps develop, design and conduct research projects according to plan.
  • Supports data collection and analytical needs of research projects. Conducts literature reviews and helps write reports and manuscripts. Ensures project compliance with different policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
