Actalent Quality Control Laboratory Technician in Chicago, Illinois
Job Title: Quality Control Laboratory Technician
Job Description
The quality control lab technician will work in the satellite lab (above manufacturing floor) to perform quality checks and testing on raw materials, in-process, and finished goods. They will be splitting their time 60% on the plant floor and 40% in the laboratory. This position will be a mix of lab and quality assurance work where they will be closely integrated into operations within the plant. Candidates must be comfortable with working in a manufacturing setting and on their feet.
Responsibilities
Pull samples multiple times a day to bring them back to the lab and perform testing.
Pull quality assurance and regulatory documentation from the floor.
Interact with and ensure plant personnel are following procedures (GMP, wearing PPE, ensuring operators are running tests, etc.).
Communicate with production personnel to communicate issues/potential issues.
Conduct formulation checks (salt, acid, pH).
Perform titrations, mass-volume measurements, and sensory testing (taste) twice per shift.
Calibrate lab instruments.
Conduct basic micro testing and make solutions.
Use SAP system and Microsoft applications to enter data.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in the sciences (bio, food science, etc.).
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Experience in food manufacturing (quality or otherwise) highly preferred.
Work experience in a fast-paced environment (restaurant/retail/food industry internship/etc.).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with micro plating and analytical chemistry testing.
Strong communication skills.
Solution-first approach in conflict resolution.
Ability to make quick decisions independently.
Proactive work attitude.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00
