PROJECTS ADMINISTRATOR (Public Health Emergency Preparedness)

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

Health Protection Bureau – Emergency Preparedness

Number of Positions: 1

Starting Salary: $123,780.00

Mission: Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) works with communities and partners to create an equitable, safe, resilient, and healthy Chicago.

The position is responsible for the program management, fiscal responsibilities, and engagement with hospital and healthcare system to respond to planned and real emergencies, and performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

· Monitors and analyzes Chicago healthcare capacity and capability before and during planned and real events to inform medical surge response, and Crisis Standards of Care implementation

· Directs compliance of federal grant requirements and objectives both during grant application submission, throughout the grant year, and during end of year reporting

· Directs and oversees Grants Research Specialist to prepare and adhere to operational grant budgets and meets all grant reporting requirements

· Represents the City of Chicago and the Department of Public health at healthcare preparedness local, state, and national conferences, trainings, and planning meetings

· Serves as the Public Health Chair to the Chicago Healthcare Coalition for Preparedness and Response, including attendance, participation, and guidance of Executive Committee, and four subcommittees on relevant and response capabilities

· Assures appropriate supply and allocation of human, medical, and material resources in preparation for the response to emergency events through engagement of CDPH logistics contractor to enhance and maintain cache of lifesavings, emergency supplies (e.g., ventilators, PPE, burn kits, alternative care site equipment)

· Communicates key information by serving as the linkage between the Chicago healthcare system and City departments as per the City of Chicago’s Emergency Operations Plan, for both unplanned emergencies, disasters, and large planned events

· Supervises Hospital Preparedness Program team members to assure project and program progress toward varying healthcare preparedness goals

Location: Hastings – 1340 S. Damen Ave.

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm

THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM THE CAREER SERVICE

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Nine (9) years of project management work experience, OR

  • Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a directly related field, PLUS at least seven (7) years of project management work experience, OR

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a directly related field, PLUS at least five (5) years of project management work experience, OR

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a directly related field, PLUS at least four (4) years of project management work experience

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a skills assessment as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected.

Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

· Previous experience working in public health emergencies

· Previous clinical work experience in a healthcare or emergency medical services setting

· Previous experience in project management

· Previous experience managing complex bureaucratic processes

· Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
