Job Title: Production Supervisor

Job Description

We are a small, privately-held manufacturer located on the south side of Chicago and a global leader in glass technologies. We specialize in heat tempered glass and supply major brands like Whirlpool, Bosch, Samsung, and GE, dominating 85 - 95% of the market share. The Production Supervisor directs and manages all production activities, including baking, cutting, and treatment of glass. This role leads a team of Laborers and Machine Operators to ensure safe and efficient operations according to company procedures and policies. Responsibilities include coaching, evaluating, and developing team members.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and enforce Safety Awareness and all company Safety Policies and Procedures.

  • Lead and develop shift employees, meeting defined Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for Safety, Quality, Production, and Efficiency.

  • Implement Lean Manufacturing practices and Continuous Improvement Programs.

  • Conduct interviews for hourly employees.

  • Oversee 4 production lines: ovens, cutting line, CNC, and digital screen printers.

  • Supervise 25 employees on the 1st shift.

Essential Skills

  • 3-6 years of supervisory experience

  • Experience in production, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement

  • Ability to supervise over 20 employees

  • Knowledge of KPIs, Six Sigma, and process improvement

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED - mandatory

  • Associate's degree in Industrial Management or Business - a plus

Work Environment

Our manufacturing environment is clean and incorporates numerous pumps, water systems, conveyors, and ovens for heating glass. We follow lean manufacturing principles, and employees are required to wear proper PPE, including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and jeans. The first shift runs from 5:30 AM to 5 PM, with the supervisor's shift starting 30 minutes earlier and ending 30 minutes later. Work on Fridays and Saturdays may be required until new machinery is running efficiently.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Chicago, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $85000.00/yr.
